Annual Meeting of the Canadian Historical Association as it takes up the challenge of exploring the Congress 2017 theme, “From Far and Wide: The Next 150.” For the CHA, the theme provides an excellent opportunity to recognize the 150th anniversary of Confederation by discussing and reconsidering Canada’s national and international pasts, the collective and individual experiences of Canadians, and the past’s role in shaping the future of Canada, Canadian society, and Canada’s place in the world. To accomplish these goals, the CHA will host a “Grading Canada at 150” evening, featuring a moderated panel of distinguished thinkers from diverse backgrounds and professions. And the three-day conference will engage a wide range of historical subjects in panel presentations, roundtable discussions, and workshops featuring both prominent and emerging scholars. Delegates will have the opportunity to join themed historical walking tours of nearby Toronto neighbourhoods, and the CHA will host its annual awards reception to honour recent publications and research.
